Duck Friend (Not for sale)

I like to render familiar elements, such as this duck friend, in a contemporary style. I did a reverse method of painting for this piece, painting layers around the duck shape, making it appear that the duck is cut out of the more intense colors. I also treated him with a high gloss varnish so it would appear he’s just hopped out of a lake. Clearly, I didn’t have any agenda for communicating a profound truth through this piece...my aim was for viewers to perhaps respond with: “Hey, cool duck!”
