I will continually update this page, showing pieces I’m currently working on and...blathering on about “the process” and “the inspiration” and “the annoying distractions” and...

(Oh, and by “right now” I mean close to, or something like, or what could be said to be “now” or....nowish.)

what I’m painting right now

So, remember my darling niece, Alissa, and her living with us for the summer and the presto-chango room thingy? Well, after I hauled all my paints out of Alissa’s room, and was staring into space, wondering where I was going to paint all summer, darling hubby said “darling wife, fret not, if a painting space you need, then a painting space you shall have!” And then he beat his bare chest, flipped his manly mane behind his bare shoulder, mounted his white steed and conquered the Philistines. Ok, so he didn’t say “darling,” but he did get on his manly building skillz and whipped me out a gazebo in no time flat. The words “what about some kind of screened in tent...” had barely left my lips when, presto-chango, there it was: my summer gazebo d’arte! I was thinking: cheap screened in tent thrown up against the far side of the house, hopefully upwind from the chicken coop. Hero hubby was thinking: level some ground, purchase pilings, build a floor, find a cool, brand new bamboo and steel gazebo on Craig’s List, build a wall-sized easel and 2 work surfaces, and order a screen kit for the whole thing. And do it all in a day and a half. Yes, he rocks. So does my new painting gazebo. Here’s some pics from the process...you’ll note how much I helped...the fact that I’m in none of the photos is, yes, indicative of how much I helped. To my credit, I did TRY to help lift the roof frame thingy up high enough when it was time to, uh, lift it up high. I lifted...high...and then as I felt gravity getting the best of me, I helped a whoooole lot by screeching “Babe!........... uh, Babe!...... UHH, BABE!...BAAAAABE!!!!” before I fell over and then did a fancy dance around the gazebo to get a biting ant off of me. I’m pretty sure the screeching and the fancy dance both helped the building process significantly.
